Project Overview
Building a website for a clinical psychotherapist meant understanding that trust and professionalism are everything. So I started completely from scratch – blank folder, custom code, zero shortcuts. No third-party plugins cluttering up the backend or slowing down the site when someone needs help urgently.
The SEO strategy went deeper than basic optimization. I implemented Google’s latest guidelines for healthcare websites, because when people search for mental health support, they need to find the right professional quickly. Every page was structured to meet search engine standards while maintaining the warm, approachable feel that therapy clients need.
Instead of forcing psychological services into generic blog categories, I created custom post types that actually make sense – individual therapy services, specialized treatment areas, and a comprehensive psychology glossary. Each section got its own Schema markup so search engines understand exactly what kind of healthcare services are offered.
One of the most valuable features I developed was a dynamic information system for psychological conditions. Through custom fields, the therapist can easily add detailed information about different mental health conditions, explain symptoms in accessible language, and provide practical self-care tips. All of this content is completely dynamic – he can update condition information, add new symptoms, or modify self-care recommendations without touching code. It’s like having an educational resource library that grows with his practice.
The custom appointment system was the real challenge. Mental health appointments require privacy, flexibility, and simplicity. Rather than installing a bloated booking plugin that might not fit the workflow, I built a custom solution from the ground up. Clients can request appointments without feeling overwhelmed by unnecessary fields or confusing interfaces.
But here’s what really set this project apart – I handled everything from concept to launch. Visual design that feels calming yet professional, all the written content that explains services without using intimidating clinical jargon, and a user experience that reduces anxiety instead of adding to it.
The result? A website that not only ranks well for local therapy searches but actually helps potential clients feel comfortable taking that first step toward getting help. Sometimes the most important websites are the ones that make difficult conversations a little easier.
