The travel agency needed a WordPress site that could handle boats, tours, and airport transfers without the bloat of heavy plugins slowing everything down. So I built their entire theme from scratch – zero external dependencies, just clean, efficient code.

The really cool part was creating custom post types that made sense for their business. Instead of cramming boat rentals into blog posts, they got dedicated sections for each service type. I even built them a custom admin interface inspired by WooCommerce’s product management – familiar enough to feel intuitive, but tailored specifically for managing travel services.

Finding the right boat or tour needed to be effortless for their customers, so I developed custom filtering and search systems for each service type. Whether someone wants a sunset cruise or an island-hopping adventure, they can narrow down options based on duration, group size, departure location – whatever matters to them.

Since they serve international tourists, I made the whole theme translation-ready from day one. Now they can easily add new languages through Loco Translate without touching code. English for international tourists, German for their European visitors – all managed through the WordPress admin.

Here’s where it gets interesting: they didn’t need complex online payments, just simple booking requests. Instead of installing a heavy booking plugin, I customized Contact Form 7 to handle their specific needs. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution.

For the technical stack, I used Bootstrap for responsive design, Air-datepicker for smooth date selection, Tom-select for enhanced dropdowns, and integrated Google Maps API to show actual route maps for land and sea transfers. Customers can see exactly where they’re going before they book. The result? A fast, multilingual booking platform that feels custom-built (because it is) without the performance penalties of plugin overload.
